Its me again,I just want to ask a few questions.As of right now,I am not going back to work,I am not quiting,I am just going to give them the run around for right now.I am going to tell them,I am comming back after my Vactions.But Id ont want to go back at all.What I would like to ask is,should I apply for State till I can get SSI?What should I do?Do you all think I am cabel of getting SSI?Right now I have no Health Insurance,whcih means no shots,no medicine.So,I am hurting.I dont know what to do.A friend of Garys,well was a good friend of mine till He hurt my feelings by saying that I am lazy by not going back to work,taking the easy way out.I dont think so.Why would He say that.He has no idea what I been through.I need to know if I would be doing the right thing by applying for SSI?But should get on State till I get on SSI?THanks.Should I get depressed about this?Which I know I am and I am upset.I just dont know what to do.

Amanda, I don't know about your state but here in Washington it can take tons of paper work, doctors visits & exams and up to a year to get on SSI. I would suggest you go to the Welfare office and apply for State aid immediately. If you qualify they will give you medical coupons, etc. Meanwhile have your mom or dad call the local Social Security Office and set up an appointment for you to meet with a SSI case worker to get that ball rolling. I wouldn't tell any on them about your upcoming vacations...they might not like the sound of that. Linda in Washington state
mandy i wish youd go to social security and get things atarted for you also go to state they can give you ssi. it ids different then social security disability.pleasse do it stop putting it odff i knew a year ago you are a sickl girl and your not gonna be able to go back to work i know you want but with your condiiton there is no way youll ever do that job with pains like you have suffered with ..you have plenty of of things that will get you approved right away on disability but youll not get insurance threw thast for 2years ....so definately gotto state and then go to social security i told you dont even have to go just have to apply on line ......just do so you can stop the worrying... i love you and hate that your hurting and worrying... i believe youd be approved in less then 3months instead of the years it took me please dont be offended if you think im being nasty im not trying to be but you have gotto get this done ,,so you can stop the worry or spend all your money on bills and meds please do it soon ...god bless you ,i love you Sue
Amanda....listen to the comments ahead of mine. I have nothing to add. That is the best advise anyone can give you. STOP putting it off and get things started.

Comment #1 is correct! You have to go to the SS office & fill out for SS, then they send you a lot of paperwork to fill out, you have to have Drs paperwork too, & sometimes they even ibsist you go to their Dr also...usually takes 1-2 yrs to get on. A few get on in 6 mos but not many. Most are not accepted & have to reapply a 2nd time.
You can apply for Welfare in meantime, lots of paperwork there too. So be prepared.
Things differ from state to state.
I'm on SS, so I get Medicare. But I also am on Medicaid & Food Stamps thru the Welfare Office. I was lucky only took me 6 mos to get on SS. The Medicare pays for 80% of my hosp & Dr, & Medicaid picks up the other 20%. My medicines only cost me $1. each. Only get $42. mo of Food Stamps, but thats ok...it's mostly the medical that I need.

I'm with commentor #1 too! It takes up to a year to get anything and they ALWAYS turn you down the first time. IT is fought for hard to get it. And the paperwork is like writing your own book by hand. You may need legal help with all of it too and that guy gets a part of your money for payment.
